This has increased her morale and courage toward her friends on Facebook, Armstrong said.

Mary Armstrong is one of many students in De Anza college who has gone through the process of which Dr.B.J. Casey from the Weill Medical College of Cornell University said is a result of peer pressure.

Also according to research by Nicole Bogart, the Facebook uplift has of late increased mainly among the college students to enhance their appearance to look more beautiful in pictures and selfies.

According to a YouTube video by media startup Vocativ, most of the Facebook users in colleges are undergoing everything from chin augmentations and rhinoplasty, to chemical peels and laser skin treatments to make a good impression to their friends on Facebook.

Moses Leonard, 23, biochemistry, had not tried the process because many of his friends who had it seemed to have deteriorated in a big way. They concentrated so much on the process leaving very little time for their studies.

"It is tough for a student to concentrate on the books while at the same time the same student is concentrating and going through dangerous surgeries, “Leonard said.

Tracy Kim, a 23-year-old, communication major who has been attending De Anza college for four years, has undergone the process of the Facebook and said that she was so frustrated with the ugly photos on her account being forced by her emotions to undergo surgery.

"I had a lot of trauma and frustrations due to my Facebook photos hence my emotions forcing me to have the surgery to change my looks for better. Right now I am so comfortable with my look,” said Kim with a broad smile.

John Collins, 20 years old, a third-year student, said that the presence of social media accounts, especially Facebook, could be blamed.

He said most of the students in the college were on social media, they have the urge to look more beautiful to be noticed by their friends.

“The students should be proud of their appearance as they were created in the image of God.” Collins said.

Robert Adams who is a lecturer of the department of psychology said that many students, especially the girls have decided to go through the surgery due to the frustrations with their physical look.

He said that to reduce that menace in the university the students had to undergo through counseling as at long last the process would cause terrible diseases such as cancer that would lead to the students living a devastating life.
